Air cargo is fast. Finding it shouldn't be the slow part.
Rates live in inboxes, capacity lives in airline portals, and status lives in a tracking page per carrier. AirScanner puts all three behind one search — priced on chargeable weight, tracked to the milestone.
Airline and airport figures are counted from the registry and rounded down — never a marketing number. Milestone and product counts are exact.
What AirScanner does
Six surfaces, one data spine. Each one is useful on its own and better next to the others.
Rate & capacity search
Search airline rates and available capacity by airport pair, priced on chargeable weight before you commit cargo. 10 products, from general cargo and ULD pivot bookings to charter and special handling.
AWB tracking
Master and house air waybills tracked against the 11 IATA Cargo-IMP milestones — accepted, manifested, departed, arrived, cleared, delivered — with the flight leg behind every event.
Airline directory
40+ cargo airlines with IATA designator, ICAO code, 3-digit AWB prefix, primary hub and fleet type. 8 of them are all-cargo or integrator operators rather than bellyhold-only.
Airport reference
4500+ IATA-coded airports across 230+ countries, with the cargo terminal detail that decides whether a lane is actually flyable.
Weight & loadability tools
Chargeable weight at the 1:6000 IATA ratio, AWB check-digit validation, ULD fit, great-circle routing and a dangerous-goods screener.
Booking & documents
Request capacity, hold an allotment, issue the AWB and keep the DGD, packing list and invoice attached to the shipment record.
Why we built it
Air freight is the mode you choose when time matters, and yet quoting it is the slowest workflow in logistics. A forwarder emails three airlines, waits for three formats back, converts each one to chargeable weight by hand, and by the time the shipper answers, the capacity is gone.
Nothing about that is a hard problem. The rate basis is standard, the milestone vocabulary is standard, the AWB numbering is standard — it is all IATA. What was missing was one surface that speaks those standards and answers in seconds.
So the rule for this product is simple: every number on the screen has to be derived, not decorated. Chargeable weight is computed, not estimated. Surcharges are itemised, not folded into a headline rate. Counts come from the registry. If we cannot back a figure, it does not ship.
How it is built
Server-rendered, edge-delivered
Pages render on request and ship almost no client JavaScript — the homepage ships none. A rate search should feel like a search engine, not a single-page app booting up.
One normalised spine
Airlines, airports, products and milestones each have exactly one definition in the codebase. Every page, endpoint and AI-readable document reads the same rows, so a counter on the homepage cannot disagree with the directory.
Airline-neutral by design
No carrier pays for placement. Results are ordered by what the search asked for — price, transit, product fit — and the margin is the same regardless of which airline wins the lane.
Recently shipped
Marketing, pricing & legal surface
Pricing with the four paid tiers, company pages, legal documents and the AI-readable /llms.txt reference for the 46-airline registry.
Foundation & air-freight data layer
Sky-cyan brand shell, homepage, airline registry with AWB prefixes, 4500+ airports, Cargo-IMP milestone vocabulary and the 10-product rate taxonomy.
Full history on the changelog, and current service state on status.
Frequently asked questions
Where do the rates come from?
Airline and air-cargo marketplace feeds. AirScanner is not an airline and does not fly cargo — it aggregates published and negotiated rates, applies a transparent margin, and passes fuel and security surcharges through as separate line items.
Is AirScanner a freight forwarder?
AirScanner is the platform layer. Bookings are placed with airlines and forwarding partners; the platform issues the paperwork, meters the quota and tracks the milestones.
How accurate is the tracking?
Status comes from the carrier’s own Cargo-IMP milestone pushes against your AWB, so it is as current as the airline’s handling system. For time-critical decisions — a customs deadline, a connecting flight — confirm with the carrier directly.
What does it cost?
There is no free tier. Starter is $1.99/month for one air shipment, scaling to 150 shipments a month on Ultra. Rate search and tracking are not metered as shipments.
